How It Works

On ContactThePlayers.com you can send messages directly to any of our 200+ Star Football, Cricket, Golf and Rugby Union players! Every Player featured on the site is GUARANTEED TO RESPOND to your message - and it costs you just £2.50 (GBP) per message!

Players such as Rory McIlroy, Andrew Flintoff, Nick Easter, Mefin Davies, Michael Mancienne and Alan McGregor will be responding to your messages! Whilst the majority of our Players read and respond to messages, via the internet, from the comfort of their own homes, there are a few super-popular Players who get hundreds of messages a week, and need our help to answer them (otherwise they'd be late for training!) In these cases, our Agents call the players on the phone to get their responses, and write the response back to you guys on their behalf.

Why do you charge fans to send Messages?

By putting a small charge on sending a message we can ensure the quality of the messages is good, and cut out spam messages!  If you don't want to pay for a message, why not send your support by poking the player instead?  Pokes are viewed online and printed off for the other footballers too!

  • Who can register?
  • Anyone in the World can register for an account! It's FREE!
  • How do I register?
  • Simply click 'Register' at the top of the page, and fill in the details.
  • What do I do if I forget my password?
  • We all forget our passwords every so often. Click on the 'Forgotten Password' link at the top of the page, and try to think of a more memorable password next time!
  • Are my details confidential?
  • We keep your data in a secure place and only use your data in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998, so you don’t need to worry. We will not sell your details to advertising companies.
  • Will you send me messages? Can I stop these coming?
  • We have a fantastic Newsletter that will keep you up-to-date with the latest goings-on at ContactThePlayers.com – making sure you all know exactly what sports we cover, and what the players are saying.

If you don’t want to receive this for FREE, you can edit the Newsletter opt-in in your Account Control Panel.

  • How much does it cost?
  • Each credit costs just 25p.

It costs 10 credits to write to a Star Player (and get a GUARANTEED response) and just 1 credit to send a message to any other player - that's safer, cheaper, easier and even cheaper than writing them a letter!

Because some Debit / Credit Card companies charge us a set fee per transaction, the minimum purchase is for 20 credits (£5 GBP).
  • Why do you charge money for this service?
  • Because we have to!

We would love to offer this service for free, but everything costs money. Your money gets split between the players, agents, government, credit-card company, website host, and photo company, and only a tiny proportion comes back to us.

By charging for each message, we can be sure that players won’t receive spam messages, and that messages are relevant and have been thought about. If our service was free, millions of people would send a message to your favourite player, and he would have less time to write back to you!
  • How long do I have to use my credits?
  • You have 12 months to use each credit – we need to work out our annual returns each year to keep the Tax Man happy.
  • How can I get more FREE credits?
  • We will give you 10 free credits for getting your friends to sign up (credits are added to your account once your friend has added credits to their account).

We do feel generous every so often, but it has to be a special occasion!
  • What else can I use my credits for?
  • Currently, credits can be used to enter competitions or write to the players. We are looking at other things that might be of value to you, and we will keep you posted!

If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear from you (send us an email).

Message Sending

  • Who can I write to?
  • You can write to any of the sportsmen / women listed on our site. We can guarantee they will receive it.

Currently this means you can write to a large selection of Rugby Union, Golf and Tennis stars, as well as ANY English Premier League, English Championship or Scottish Premier League football player.

We can guarantee that players with a star next to their name WILL REPLY!
  • How many messages can I send?
  • You can send 1 message per credit, but there is no limit to how many messages you can send.
  • What languages can I write to the player in?
  • Currently, the system has been built in English and we recommend that English is used in messages - this is because popular players will be called by phone for responses, and the Agent's grasp of Portuguese / Serbian / Dutch isn’t necessarily going to be as good as yours! Those players who read and respond to their own fanmail may surprise you with a reply.

In time we hope to move to a multi-lingual system, but at the moment, writing in a foreign language may harm your chances of getting a reply.
  • How long can the messages be?
  • Your message can be any length up to 1000 characters, which we think is long enough to get your point across!
  • Can I use naughty words?
  • We search all messages sent to players for 'Blacklisted' words. These are abusive / inappropriate words, which we Flag to let the players know that the message might not be very nice. We leave it up to the player whether he / she wants to read these Flagged messages, or just remove them from their Inbox.

We recommend against using naughty words, as it harms the chances of you getting a reply!
  • Can I write to players I don't like?
  • Yes, but be nice - even the superstars are human!
  • Can I include my email / phone number?
  • Yes. Whether the players will contact you on it or add you to their messenger profile is another story…
  • Back to top ^
  • Can I still write my favourite player a letter? How else can I get in touch?
  • Yes, you can still get in touch with the player by the old fashioned way, but Contact The Players.com is now the fastest, safest, easiest and cheapest way to send messages to players.

We're trying to get postal addresses up too, just in case some of you want to do that instead though :)
  • Can I have my favourite player's email address?
  • Why don't you ask him / her?
  • Can I add a photo to my message?
  • Once you have registered, you can add a photo to your profile, which will come up next to your message in the player's Inbox.

Message Read / Responses

  • Does the player actually read my message?
  • Our Star Players (players with a star next to their name) read ALL messages that are written in English and have not been Flagged (Messages are Flagged for using naughty words.)

They MAY read messages that are Flagged or written in a foreign language, but we cannot guarantee it.
  • Does the player actually respond to my message?
  • Our Star Players (players with a star next to their name) respond to ALL messages that are written in English and have not been Flagged (Messages are Flagged for using naughty words.)

They MAY respond to messages that are Flagged or written in a foreign language, but we cannot guarantee it.

We cannot guarantee responses from anyone other than our Star Players.
  • Will the player respond to charity requests?
  • Players will get involved where they feel comfortable. Please bear in mind that players receive many such requests every week, and simply can’t help every charity as their isn’t enough time in the day (unless they skip training…)
  • Will the player respond to signed item requests?
  • We are trying to get signed photos up in the player’s galleries for you to have instead.

We think it's unlikely that the player will grab an envelope, write your address, get out his stack of signed photos, and run off down to the Post Office to send it you, but you never know...
  • Why does the player bother responding to messages?
  • Superstars are normal people too! Wouldn't you love to hear what your fans say about you?!
  • How long does it take the player to receive the message?
  • Our system delivers it to the player's Inbox instantly.

If he isn't a Star Player, we print out the messages into a message booklet and post them to the player every 1-2 weeks.
  • How long does it take the player to respond to the message?
  • Our Star Players (players with a star next to their name) WILL respond - though it can take anything from two minutes to two months.

We cannot guarantee responses from anyone other than our Star Players.
  • How can you guarantee my message will reach the player?
  • We can guarantee that the message will get to the player – either to his / her Inbox or sent to the club.
  • Will you notify me when I receive a reply?
  • Yes. Notifications are automatically set to 'on' in your account Control Panel.
  • Can I publish my reply or sell it to the Press?
  • No. The players' messages are confidential, and we don’t want things that have been said innocently blown into a big news story by the Press. For this reason, all content remains the property of Contact The Players, and cannot be sold or re-published without the express permission of the player, his / her agent or ourselves.
