Biography

Stiliyan Petrov is a midfielder for Bulgaria and Aston Villa in the English Premier League. At Glasgow Celtic he played further up the pitch in an attacking midfielder role, arriving late in the box to finish off chances, but more recently he has been deployed as a tough-tackling deep-lying midfielder. Petrov has the experience and leadership qualities to be an effective captain – he has been for Bulgaria since he was 25.
