Biography

Steven Darby is a defender for England’s U-20s and Liverpool in the English Premier League. He is a local boy who lives just minutes from Liverpool’s Anfield ground, and will be re-living his dreams every time he steps out onto the pitch in front of the Kop. He operates well as a tough-tackling right-back, snapping at opponent’s heels and ensuring that crosses don’t make it to the strikers. He has been hailed as ‘Mr Consistency’ by the reserve team coach.

Childhood

Steven Darby was born on 6th October 1988, a stone’s throw away from Anfield in Liverpool. He was a Liverpool fan practically from the moment of his birth. As a child he idolised Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, though in truth his game is more closely resembled to Steven Gerrard’s, with a never-say-die attitude.

Early Career

Steven was promoted from the Liverpool youth team, with whom he pad played since he was 12 years old, to the first-team squad in August 2006. Training amongst the Champions of Europe helped him to bridge the gap between potential star and genuine professional footballer.

Current Club

Darby was a key member of the Reserve League winning side, and was given the captains armband because of his leadership qualities. He made his first-team debut in the league cup on November 12th 2008, and went on to play in Liverpool’s meaningless game against PSV in the Champion’s League group stages.

International

Steven Darby has represented England at various levels, most recently in the U-19 European Championships in May 2007, when he was a solid right-back. He has high hopes of becoming a full professional in the not-so-distant future.
