Biography
Salif Diao is a midfielder for Senegal and Stoke City in the English Premier League. It was his form for Senegal – shocking France’s multi-million pound stars in World Cup Japan 2002 – that won him a place at Liverpool. He struggled to adapt to the English game, but has the hang of it now, some 6 years on. He is deployed as a defensive midfielder, screening the defence from much of the opposition’s attacking play with his tough tackling and hard work.
