Biography
Jay Spearing is a short play-making midfielder for Liverpool in the English Premier League. He was given the number 26 shirt at the start of the 2008/09 season, and is widely regarded as a fantastic midfielder in the Paul Scholes mould.
Childhood
Jay Spearing was born on 25th November 1988, on the Wirral, the outskirts of Liverpool. He has always been a supporter of Liverpool – he joined the Liverpool academy aged 11 and never really had any choice from then on! Some fantastic performances for the youth teams got him noticed, though some spectators believed that Spearing’s size might be an issue.
Early Career
Jay Spearing was promoted to the Liverpool first-team squad in June 2007, after leading the youth team to their second consecutive Youth FA Cup.
Current Club
Jay Spearing has been training alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso, and this has improved his game no end. Where he was once a raw talent, he is slowly being polished into a gem of a player, and is expected by the Kop to have a similar impact as Steven Gerrard had when he was a youngster.
He made his debut for the club on December 9th 2008, in Liverpool’s final Champion’s League group game, and showed signs of the promise that had got him this far.
International
Jay Spearing has a number of different national sides that he could play for, though he is holding out for a place in the England U-21 and full-side set-up. As a bona-fide ‘scouser’, he is looking forward to joining up with fellow-liverpudlian Wayne Rooney on the World stage.
