Biography

Jack Wilshere plays as a midfielder for Arsenal, on loan at Bolton in the English Premier League, and is tipped to be a great England player. He favours playing in the ‘hole’ behind the strikers, but can also put his pace and passing to good use on the right-hand side of midfield. He reads the game particularly well, and has been given chances to shine by coach Arsene Wenger, who has great faith in Jack.

Childhood

Jack was born on 1st January 1992, in Hitchin, England, and always knew he would become a football player – he didn’t want to do anything else!

Early Career

At the age of 11 he was invited to join the Arsenal Academy. After excelling in his age-group he was invited to join the older teams, and was playing for the U18s when he was just 15 years old.

Current Club

Having played his way through the youth teams, Jack Wilshere was taken into the Arsenal reserve team in February 2008, and was soon training with the first team, trying to learn from the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky.

Jack featured in Arsenal’s ‘Carling Cup Kids’ team, winning plaudits from the national press, and is on the verge of having an impact on the first team, though he is more than happy to remain on the sidelines and learn his trade in training for the time being.

Arsene Wenger has tipped Jack for greatness, anticipating that Wilshere will have a big role for Arsenal in the future. His faith in Wilshere is such that Wenger threw him on in a Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kiev, making him only the fifth 16-year-old to play in the Champions League!

International

Jack Wilshere has played at various ranks of youth international football, often playing in the team above his age-group in similar circumstances to his Arsenal career. He captained the U16s team and has been tipped to have an England call-up waiting just around the corner.
