Biography
Amaury Bischoff is a creative central midfielder for Portugal national side.
Childhood
Amaury was born on 31st March 1987 to a Portuguese Mother and French father, allowing him to choose his international career-path. He grew up in Strasbourg, and worked his way up in the Strasbourg ranks.
Early Career
In spite of his good form for the Strasbourg reserves, he failed to make a first-team appearance ahead of his exit at the end of the 2004/05 season to Werder Bremen, where he quickly became a fan’s favourite. He made over 50 appearances for the German side, and appeared to have a bright future at the club where he was first given the chance to show off his full range of passing ability. However, as the end of his contract approached in the summer of 2008, Werder Bremen failed to make a good offer to Bischoff, and he decided that he was not wanted at the club.
Current Club
On 1st July 2008 Bischoff joined Arsenal on a Bosman free-transfer, with Wenger willing to gamble that Amaury’s talents would make him a good Premier League player. He has shown flair on the right-hand side of midfield as well as in the middle.
International
Despite first playing for the French U16 team, Amaury decided that Portugal were closer to his heart, and has since appeared for the Portuguese U17 and U21 teams. A full national side call up isn’t too far away.
