Biography
Adam Hammill is a midfielder for Barnsley in the English Championship. He is a tricky winger, who uses his pace and guile to beat his man and start attacks. He can play on either wing, but is at his best when marauding down the left flank, where he has more options open to him and his fantastic left-foot.
Childhood
Hammill was born on 25th January 1988 in Liverpool, England. He joined up with the Liverpool academy on his fourteenth birthday, in spite of interest from Everton and Manchester United.
Early Career
Adam’s performances in the youth teams led to some reserve team games, and a call up to the first-team squad. Training with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres showed him how far he had come, and also how far he had to go. His first success for Liverpool was in the 2006 FA Youth Cup, but he hopes to take many more trophies back to Anfield in the future.
Current Club
In January 2007, Hammill was loaned out to Scottish club Dunfermline, where his darting and courageous play won him a first-team spot. He played in his first major cup final (the Scottish Cup) but sadly tasted defeat at the hands of Celtic.
He has established himself in the first-team during loan spells at Southampton, Blackpool and Barnsley, and has proven himself to be a potent attacking threat, with the necessary hard-working attitude to make it to the very top.
International
Adam Hammill has represented England at U-19 level, and will hope to continue to impress. He has started to add a physical power to his game, and will be a tough competitor for England in the future.
